Wonderland

Greetings friends!

If you know me well (or at all), you'll know my true loves in life are Taylor Swift and Disney*. Since there's a reference to Taylor Swift in the title of every blog I've written, I thought it was about time to reference my other love.

(*And obviously, cats.)

This post is all about the Walt Disney World parks in Orlando, Florida. Since I'm lucky enough to have been many times, I think I'm qualified to rank them. Disclaimer: all the opinions are my own, and it could get pretty controversial so read on with caution!

In case you don't know, there are six Disney World parks. Four of these are theme parks and two are water parks. All of these parks are amazing, even those ranked the lowest on my list!

In reverse order, and therefore in last place...

Typhoon Lagoon

This one wasn't too tricky for me to put last. Typhoon Lagoon is one of Disney's two water parks and whilst it's got some great slides and other attractions, it just doesn't match up to the other parks.

Favourite attraction: Crush 'n' Gusher; the double-ring tube slides are always fun!

Least favourite attraction: Humunga Kowabunga; a near-vertical drop in an enclosed tube in the dark... not my idea of fun!

Overall rating (out of 10): 6.5

Next place it's...

Epcot

I know I might lose some of you here for placing this so low down on the list but let me explain. I love the world showcase; I love walking around the countries and exploring the different areas. However, it's been quite a while since this place got a revamp and whilst it's still amazing, I feel that the other parks have the advantage when it comes to money being invested in them for improvements. Also, my favourite ride is more often broken down than it is running...

Favourite attraction: Test Track; a fast-paced, futuristic, car-testing themed ride.

Least favourite attraction: Journey into Imagination with Figment; does anyone even know what this is? I don't know what this is.

Overall rating: 7.5

Can you guess what's coming next?

Hollywood Studios

I need to start by saying, this park has a special place in my heart because it is the home of my all-time favourite ride (which hasn't changed since I was 4 - I will insert a picture for evidence). This park also has the best shows, in my opinion. Unsurprising given its name, but worth pointing out nonetheless. The scenery is amazing and the attention to detail when you're walking round, only slightly tops Epcot (which also has amazing attention to detail). Potentially this would have scored higher if they hadn't gotten rid of the Sorcerer's hat at the end of Hollywood Boulevard; I guess I'm still bitter about that.

Favourite attraction: Tower of Terror; terrifying when I was 4, terrifying at 20.

Least favourite attraction: Walt Disney Presents; as much as I love the guy for bringing all this to life, this just isn't the most exciting attraction.

Overall rating: 8

In third place...

Blizzard Beach

This is Disney's other water park, snow and ski themed. It might surprise some of you that I've ranked this so highly (even above two of the theme parks), but I have only great and funny memories of this place! It's got something for everyone, even if you're not a big water person. It's got a lazy river (with a few surprises), some competitive water slides and an amazing family raft ride! It's going to be difficult to choose one favourite here...

Favourite attraction: Teamboat Springs; it had to be the family raft ride, it's just great for everyone and when you have a bigger family it's nice to be able to all do it together!

Least favourite attraction: Summit Plummet; I think I speak for the majority of females when I say I prefer to keep my bikini on in public water parks and this slide is not exactly conducive to that!

Overall rating: 8.5

Second place goes to...

Magic Kingdom

I know some of you will be frowning at the screen right now and shaking your heads in disbelief that I didn't put the kingdom in first place. As much as I adore Magic Kingdom and walking down Mainstreet USA when you first arrive gives me the warmest and happiest feeling, there are some small things that could be updated to make it even better! I've been lucky enough to visit the Orlando parks on multiple occasions since I was around 4 years old, and I am now 20. In that time, I've not seen many changes to Magic Kingdom, and whilst that is sometimes like a home comfort, a little refurb here and there wouldn't go a miss. I'm not saying I want any drastic changes, because all the different lands and the layout of the park is perfect. But some of the attractions have been there decades and remain untouched. Just updating some of the special effects or giving it a new coat of paint would be enough to make the park feel brand new!

Favourite attraction: Space Mountain; it has to be. Although there are so many rides I could have put here, I always look forward to this one the most!

Least favourite attraction: Mad Tea Party; a Disney twist on the classic teacups. Controversial, I know, but I always think I'll be fine on these and end up coming off pale and feeling very sick...

Overall rating: 9.5

So finally, first place...

Animal Kingdom

I don't even know where to begin with how incredible this park is. The attractions, the walking trails, the attention to detail, the evening show, the new Pandora... everything about this place is perfect! You can walk around for hours and hours and never get enough. Adding Pandora has also given it a new lease of life, and implementing a new evening show a few years back so that the park stays open later has also made the whole experience even better!

Favourite attraction: Kilimanjaro Safaris; just an absolute joy. There are so many attractions I could mention here though, and the new Avatar Flight of Passage is incredible also.

Least favourite attraction: TriceraTop Spin; the spin again, me and spinning just aren't often a great mix. Upside down? Fine. Vertical drops? Not a problem. Spinning? No thanks.

Overall rating: 10

So, there you have it: the Disney World Orlando parks rated as per my own opinion. If you disagree, let me know which order you'd have placed them in!

I love the Country Bear Jamboree - it’s a classic, and if fairness the Tiki Room doesn’t make me sick so... 😂🤮
